Hi! I began writing in Elementary school back in—let’s just say that was a long time ago. I quickly was writing all the time: poems, short stories… basically anything that I needed to use as a creative outlet. A writing professor in college had the audacity to suggest I had a talent, which instantly made me think I was the next Michael Crichton. It gave me a confidence boost, and I dove headfirst into writing a novel. After coming up with a story idea and about 20 pages, I set it aside out of sheer frustration.

Two years ago, while trying to deal with personal trauma, I fished out that old story from the bottom of a dusty box. It was printed on Word Processor Paper. You know, the old timey paper with holes along both sides to feed it into the printer?

I entered it into my new MacbookAir and I felt like it breathed new life into it’s characters, setting and plot. Before I knew it, I had 40 pages, 60 pages, then a finished novel. It is still a constant work in progress, but a true example that it’s never too late. It’s never too late to chase your dream. It’s never too late to start again….this time it’s from experience.

When I’m not writing, I’m usually working. Gotta pay the bills! I love spending time with my husband and two amazing grown kids. I have a ridiculously long list of nerdish hobbies. Beside reading as many books as I can, I enjoy building Legos, doing paint by number kits, puzzles, Escape Rooms, crocheting blankets or stuffies, or organizing my bookmark and sticker collection.

And I’d rather bake cookies, than cook bacon.

Hi Sue – Can you tell us a little about the main character in your book and what inspired you to create that character. Would love to get a sneak peak!

Hi Bradley! Absolutely, thanks for asking 🙂

My Protagonist is a smart, nerdy 30 year old who loves books, libraries, bookstores and small town charm. She is outgoing and witty and has begun working on a novel of her own. She decides to leave New Jersey and move to a charming town in Upstate New York. However, her obsession with a past trauma is interfering with a new mystery that has fallen in her lap.

The question is…will Alisha be able to put the pieces together to solve the mystery, despite the town’s motive to keep things hidden at all costs.

I was inspired in part by my own personality and experiences. Since the genre of my novel with be cozy mystery, the sleuth, as you know, has to be inexperienced. This Jersey Girl knows nothing about solving mysteries. Especially one THIS big.

      Stay TUNED!
